Wax Digger is a Chrome extension and web app that helps vinyl record collectors find records from their Discogs wantlist across multiple stores, and find the cheapest cart combination. This policy explains how the extension and app handle data.
The Wax Digger extension does not:
The extension reads your existing Discogs.com session cookies solely to authenticate marketplace page requests on your behalf. This allows it to fetch seller listings that require a logged-in Discogs account. Your cookies are never stored beyond the current sync session and are never transmitted to any server other than discogs.com.
The extension uses chrome.storage.local to store your Wax Digger server URL, Discogs username, and sync progress state locally on your device. This data never leaves your browser and is only used to remember your settings between sessions.
The tabs permission is used solely to open the Wax Digger web app in a new tab when the extension needs to display sync results.
The extension accesses discogs.com marketplace pages to read seller listing information (seller name, price, condition, ships-from country) for records in your Discogs wantlist. It accesses waxdigger.ai to send this listing data to the Wax Digger optimizer, which calculates the cheapest cart combination.
When you connect your Discogs account to the Wax Digger web app, we store the following on our server:
This data is used solely to provide the Wax Digger service to you and is not shared with third parties.
To understand which parts of Wax Digger people actually use, and to notice when something breaks, the web app records basic usage on our own server: pages viewed, steps reached during setup, buttons pressed, time spent on a page, and errors encountered. Each visit is tagged with a random identifier stored in your browser — not your name, and not your IP address, which we do not log.
This is entirely first-party. We do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics service, and none of this data is sent anywhere outside waxdigger.ai, sold, or used for advertising. Raw usage records are deleted after 180 days.
You can turn this off completely at any time. Open your browser's developer console on waxdigger.ai and run localStorage.setItem('wd_no_track', '1') — nothing further will be collected from that browser.
Scraped seller listing data (seller username, price, condition, ships-from) is sent to the Wax Digger server at waxdigger.ai to calculate the cheapest cart combination. No data is sent to any other server.
You can disconnect your Discogs account at any time from within the app. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us at the address below.
